DAVAO CITY — Atty. Ernesto Rafael Robillo officially assumed his role as the new Regional Director of Land Transportation Office (LTO) Region XI, following a turnover ceremony led by Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor Mendoza II.

In an interview, Robillo shared his thoughts on his new role and his extensive experience in public administration. “I may be new to this position, but I’ve been working as an administrator for almost 25 years. By profession, I’m a lawyer,” Robillo stated.

“Handling people, addressing concerns, and focusing on service are not new to me. The difference now is that in this role, I am directly serving the general public,” he added.

Acknowledging the challenges of being in government service, Robillo said, “It’s not a joke being under public scrutiny, but I am excited about this new environment and responsibility. I will carry out my work with integrity and focus on delivering quality service.”

Robillo outlined his vision for the agency, emphasizing the importance of ensuring the safety of the riding public. “Security on the road starts with educating drivers. Before anyone is issued a license, they need to go through the proper seminars and training processes,” he explained.

Robillo also highlighted the importance of eliminating corruption and irregularities in the licensing and registration process. “There should be no fixing, no anomalous transactions. This ensures that the public benefits from a transparent and reliable LTO,” he stressed.

During his term, Robillo aims to implement programs that will enhance LTO XI’s objectives. One of his key initiatives is an incentive scheme to encourage compliance with traffic laws and proper procedures.

“We will create incentives to motivate citizens to follow the law, register their vehicles properly, and obtain legal, valid licenses. This way, we can reduce accidents caused by unregistered vehicles or untrained drivers,” Robillo shared.

Robillo urged the public to adhere to laws and go through the proper processes when obtaining licenses and registering vehicles. “It is essential that we all work together to create a safer and more organized transportation system. Let’s follow the law for everyone’s benefit,” he said.

With his leadership, Robillo aims to bring positive change to LTO Region XI, ensuring that service to the public is efficient, fair, and focused on integrity.
