DAVAO CITY – A 43-year-old gasoline station manager tragically lost his life after a dump truck crashed into his home in Purok Santo Niño, Barangay Mandug, at around 7:30 a.m. on December 7.

According to the initial investigation by Mandug Police Station 13, two dump trucks were traveling along the Mandug-Callawa Road when the trailing vehicle experienced a mechanical failure.

Police reported that the truck’s brakes failed due to a broken splinter hose, causing it to collide with the truck ahead. Instead of stopping, the malfunctioning truck veered off course and slammed into the house of the victim, identified as Kristine Francisco Guma.

The impact caused severe damage to the house and claimed Guma’s life.

Both dump truck drivers involved in the incident have been taken into police custody for further investigation. Authorities are currently determining liability and ensuring that proper charges will be filed.

This tragic incident has raised concerns about the roadworthiness of heavy vehicles traversing residential areas, as well as the need for stricter enforcement of safety regulations to prevent similar occurrences
