DAVAO CITY – Authorities arrested two Chinese nationals on January 6 at 11:15 PM in Glenbrook 2, Lancaster New City, Barangay Pascam 1, General Trias, Cavite, for alleged involvement in kidnapping and illegal firearms possession.

Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III, Director of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), said the operation was part of intensified efforts against heinous crimes, as directed by PNP Chief General Rommel Marbil.

The operation was launched following a complaint from a man identified as Mak, who reported that two of his friends, both Chinese nationals, had been illegally detained and extorted by the suspects, identified as Zhou and Juncheng. The victims, identified as Yuanjie and Yuanhao, were held captive and subjected to ransom demands.

The CIDG Detective and Special Operations Unit (DSOU), in coordination with CIDG Cavite Provincial Field Unit (PFU), conducted the raid that led to the rescue of the victims and the arrest of the suspects.

The operatives confiscated the following from the suspects: Two genuine ₱1,000 bills, 300 pieces of ₱500 boodle money, 298 pieces of ₱1,000 boodle money, A Colt Pistol Caliber .45, a magazine for the firearm, and live ammunition.

The suspects now face charges for Kidnapping and Serious Illegal Detention under Article 267 of the Revised Penal Code, as amended by R.A. 1084, and for violations of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act under R.A. 10591.

Following their arrest, the suspects were informed of their constitutional rights and brought to the DSOU-CIDG office for documentation and disposition. The case has been referred for inquest proceedings.

“This operation reflects our resolve to uphold justice and ensure that perpetrators of such heinous crimes are held accountable,” he urged the community to remain vigilant and cooperate with authorities.
