DAVAO CITY – A newborn baby boy was found abandoned inside a paper bag early Thursday morning, March 20, 2025, in Lanzona Subdivision, Matina Aplaya. The bag contained a note pleading for the child to be cared for and asking that his name not be changed.

“Please treat him with love and care, just like your own. Provide him something that he needs because, for now, we can’t afford to raise him,” the handwritten note read. The message also included a request to name the baby “Brian Drake” and an apology for leaving him behind.

According to a police report, at around 5:30 a.m., officers from Ecoland Police Station 15 responded to a 911 call about a baby discovered at 011 Singkil Street. Two female residents told authorities they heard a baby crying around 5:00 a.m. and, upon checking, found the infant in a paper bag.

The baby was immediately brought to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC). He is reported to be in good condition and weighs 2.9 kilograms.

Authorities are investigating the incident and working with social services to ensure the child’s welfare.
