PBBM to Pinoys: Choose peace, safety

April 14, 2025 by NewsLine Philippines

DAVAO CITY (April 14)— President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. appealed to Filipinos on Monday to remain peaceful and ensure the safety of their families as the nation observes the Lenten season.

“Ngayong darating na Mahal na Araw, piliin natin ang kapayapaan. Piliin natin ang kaligtasan para sa ating mga sarili, at lalo na sa ating mga pamilya,” President Marcos said in a social media posting.

“Ang Bagong Pilipino ay naninindigan para sa kaniyang bayan. Ang Bagong Pilipino ay pumapanig sa kapayapaan at kaligtasan lalo na sa lansangan. Magbigayan tayo, maging mapagkumbaba,” he said.

Citing recent road rage incidents, the President called on the public to maintain a calm and controlled attitude and follow traffic rules.

He also advised Filipinos not to imitate pranksters and vloggers who disrespect others just to get more views on social media. “Likas na mababait ang mga Pilipino, magalang, mapagkumbaba, napaka haba ng pasensya. Kaya’t nakakalungkot na makitang naaabuso ang ganito nating katangian,” the President said.

Presidential Communications Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said President Marcos will spend time with his family starting Maundy Thursday.

“He (the President) will spend his time, during Holy Week, most probably starting Thursday. Itong Holy Week ay bibigyan niya po naman ng oras ang kanyang pamilya,” Castro said in a press briefing in Malacañang.

“Para po sila’y magkasama-sama, dahil sa sobrang busy ng ating Pangulo, sa kanyang mga activities,” she said.

Asked about the President’s activities from Monday until Wednesday, Castro said the Chief Executive will have Palace meetings and has no scheduled outside engagements so far.-PR/PCO
