DAVAO CITY (April 18) — Two motorcycle riders from Davao City are spending their Holy Week in detention after engaging in a fistfight at the Mae Wess Barge Port in the Island Garden City of Samal at on Good Friday.
According to Samal City Police Chief Lt. Col. Hamlet Lerios, the altercation occurred around 10:00 a.m. and was promptly halted by members of Task Force Samal.
Despite the individuals reaching a personal settlement, Lerios emphasized that legal proceedings would continue.
Lerios said the conflict started when both motorists argued over who arrived first at the wharf to form the queue.
“I will not send them home; we will file a case on Monday because they disturbed the public. They have settled their personal fight, but the law is different,” Lerios stated.
The two individuals are set to face charges under Article 155 of the Revised Penal Code for “Alarms and Scandals,” which carries a penalty of up to ₱200.
Authorities have not released the names of the individuals involved.
