DAVAO CITY (April 18) — Vlogger and performer Elias Lintukan, popularly known as Elias J. TV, publicly apologized on Thursday for making insensitive jokes during a recent performance that drew criticism from the public.
In a heartfelt statement posted on his social media page, Elias expressed remorse for his actions:
“I apologize to everyone who was triggered and offended by my lines while performing on stage. That joke is something I often hear from budots at discos, I thought it was just okay and I use it for entertainment. I didn’t think about the real message and the consequences of it,” he said in vernacular.
He acknowledged the inappropriateness of his remarks and emphasized his commitment to being more mindful in the future:
“I know I did wrong, and as a performer/vlogger, I’m ready to listen to your advice or criticism of mine. I’m not perfect, I make mistakes and now, I’ve learned to be careful with my actions and words on stage and social media, especially since I have a large audience of influencers. I will try to use my platform in the right way.”
Elias concluded his message by thanking his followers and reaffirming his dedication to using his platform responsibly:
The apology comes after a performance where many deemed Elias’s jokes offensive, particularly due to their impact on younger audiences.
His acknowledgment and apology have been met with a mix of reactions, with some appreciating his willingness to take responsibility and others calling for greater accountability.
