DAVAO CITY (April 24)—The Philippines and the United States of America reaffirmed their strong and enduring alliance during a courtesy visit of General Christopher Mahoney, Assistant Commandant of the United States Marine Corps, to Lieutenant General Jimmy D. Larida, Vice Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), held on Tuesday.
The visit showed the depth of the strategic partnership between the two nations, rooted in decades of defense cooperation, mutual respect, and shared democratic values.
During the meeting, the two military leaders discussed regional security challenges. They emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration in key areas such as joint military training, capability enhancement, and interoperability between their respective armed forces.
Lt. Gen. Larida noted that the visit reflects not only the enduring friendship between the Philippines and the United States but also their unified commitment to peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
The AFP affirmed that such engagements are vital in reinforcing bilateral defense ties and ensuring that both forces remain aligned in their pursuit of regional security and resilience.
