Body of missing farmer found in water-filled pit in Davao City

DAVAO CITY (May 7) — The lifeless body of a farmer was found floating in a large water-filled pit in Sitio Manggahan, Barangay Tambobong, Baguio District, past 11:00 a.m. on May 6, 2025.

Police identified the victim as 56-year-old Ernesto Camali Maguan, a resident of Purok Mahusay, Barangay Tambobong. Maguan had been missing for five days and was last seen intoxicated by his cousin on May 1.

The victim’s body was bloated and emitting a foul odor when it was discovered by residents in the area.

According to initial police findings, there were no signs of foul play. Authorities believe Maguan may have drowned.
