MANILA – Tropical Depression Emong (international name Co-May) and the southwest monsoon will continue to bring rains over parts of Luzon and the Visayas, the weather bureau said Saturday.

As of 5 p.m., the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the center of Emong was estimated at 500 km. northeast pf Itbayat, Batanes.

It is packing maximum winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of 70 kph, moving northeastward at 70 kph.

Occasional rains will prevail over the Ilocos Region, Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro due to the southwest monsoon.

The same weather system will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Cordillera region, Cagayan Valley, Calabarzon, the rest of Central Luzon, and the rest of Mimaropa.

Possible flash floods or landslides may occur in these areas due to moderate to heavy rains, PAGASA warned.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains or thunderstorms.

Strong winds and rough seas will prevail over extreme Northern Luzon, while the western sections of Luzon will have moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas.

The rest of the country will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas. (PNA)
