DAVAO CITY (August 9) — The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) officially broke ground on August 8, on its new Davao Branch Office along McArthur Highway in Matina, marking a significant milestone in the agency’s efforts to modernize and expand its services for more than 63,000 members and pensioners in the region.

GSIS Chairman Rodolfo del Rosario led the ceremony, joined by GSIS Officer-in-Charge Juliet Bautista, Acting Senior Vice President for VisMin Operations Atty. Isagani del Rosario, and other executives. The event was also attended by employees from the Davao, Kidapawan and Tagum branches.

“This project represents our promise to bring government service closer to the people. We are building not just a new office but a stronger connection with our members in Mindanao,” said Chairman del Rosario in his remarks.

OIC Bautista echoed this message, emphasizing the importance of the new facility in improving service delivery. “This groundbreaking reflects our commitment to strengthen our presence across the country and deliver quality service in facilities that meet the needs of our members,” she said.

The upcoming two-story structure will be constructed on the same site where the old GSIS Davao office once stood, which was closed in 2019 due to structural issues caused by frequent earthquakes. The new building is designed to be disaster-resilient, accessible, and member-centered, ensuring safety and convenience for clients, particularly from Davao del Sur, Davao Occidental, and nearby areas.

Established in 1957, GSIS Davao is one of the agency’s oldest branches. It began with a 10-person team serving 8,000 members and has since grown to cater to over 47,000 active members and 16,000 pensioners.

As part of the groundbreaking activities, GSIS also held a virtual exhibit titled “Past Echoes, Future Visions” and a townhall session to engage with staff and highlight the agency’s continued transformation. “This is about providing Ginhawa for All, with our members at the heart of everything we do,” said Atty. Isagani del Rosario, emphasizing GSIS’s vision for a more responsive and accessible public service network across the country.
