DAVAO CITY (August 13) – The City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) apprehended 79 individuals for violating Davao City Ordinance 0361-10, or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Ordinance, between August 6 and 11, 2025. The ordinance prohibits littering, illegal dumping, and improper waste disposal in both public and private areas.

Of the total, 64 violators were caught between 5 p.m. and midnight. CENRO Officer-in-Charge Engr. Marivic Reyes emphasized that enforcing the ordinance is the office’s primary duty, aimed at instilling civic discipline while safeguarding public health and the environment.

Section 49 of the ordinance mandates the creation of a CENRO Enforcement Unit tasked with apprehending violators and issuing citation tickets after undergoing the required training.

Reyes warned that offenders may face fines of up to PHP 5,000 and/or imprisonment. “This is the final warning: dispose of your waste properly, segregate your garbage, and keep your surroundings clean. Let us prove that in Davao, ‘Basta Dabawenyo, DCplinado,’” she said.

She also clarified that the ordinance is enforced throughout the city, not only along the coastal road.
