NDRRMC raises Blue Alert as ‘Isang’ hits Aurora

MANILA (August 22) – The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) placed its operations center under blue alert at noon Friday to monitor the possible impacts of Tropical Depression Isang.

The alert level aims to ensure close monitoring and coordination among government agencies, the council said. Under blue alert, selected duty personnel from the Office of Civil Defense are on standby, supported by uniformed officers from the Armed Forces, Coast Guard, Police, and Bureau of Fire Protection, along with technical staff from PAGASA, DILG, DOH, and other agencies.

In its 11 a.m. advisory, PAGASA reported that Isang made landfall in Casiguran, Aurora, bringing maximum sustained winds of 55 kph and gusts of up to 90 kph. Seventeen areas remain under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1.
