KIBLAWAN, Davao del Sur (August 29) – The Department of Agriculture, through its High Value Crops Development Program (DA-HVCDP), in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Kiblawan, officially launched the Gulayan sa Bayan (GSB) Project on August 27, 2025, in Barangay Maragaa.

The project seeks to boost community-based vegetable production by establishing communal gardens in municipalities and barangays, supporting food security, nutrition, and sustainable livelihood through diversified and continuous vegetable farming.

During the launch, agricultural inputs were turned over to the Rural Improvement Women Farmers and Workers Association of Kiblawan, the identified beneficiary of the initiative.

DA Regional Field Operations Division Chief Engr. Lorenzo Bermillo highlighted the project’s long-term value. “Through Gulayan sa Bayan, we are not only providing inputs but also empowering communities to take an active role in ensuring food security and nutrition,” he said.

The program also encourages communities to adopt vegetable gardening as a reliable source of food and income while promoting the consumption of safe and nutritious produce.
