DAVAO CITY  (September 16) – Over PHP3.7 million worth of illegal drugs were seized by law enforcement officials here during a series of buy-bust operations that took place between September 7 and September 14.

The weeklong campaign involved 33 anti-drug operations, leading to the arrest of 37 individuals, according to Col. Mannan Muarip, acting chief of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO). The confiscated commodities included 152.91 grams of shabu, 23,104.81 kg of marijuana, and 62 vape cartridges containing marijuana oil.

Police estimated that the drugs’ respective values were PHP1.03 million for shabu, PHP2.7 million for marijuana, and PHP3,100 for marijuana oil.

In addition to the anti-drug campaign, Muarip said that operations against illegal gambling had been stepped up, resulting in the arrest of 22 individuals in 18 operations. Authorities seized PHP5,300 in betting money and filed 18 related offenses.

The DCPO also carried out 41 operations aimed at wanted individuals, leading to the arrest of 41 individuals; 18 of whom were listed as most sought. Meanwhile, eight operations targeting loose firearms resulted in the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of three unauthorized firearms.

“These achievements reflect not only the dedication of the men and women of the DCPO but also the strong partnership with the community, barangay officials, and the local government unit,” Muarip remarked.
