MALAYBALAY CITY (September 23) — A reported ₱96.5 million ghost project in Barangay Linabo, Malaybalay City, is being investigated by the Philippine Anti-Corruption Czar (PACC).

Despite there being no proof of building at the location, the flood control project was purportedly proclaimed finished. After receiving reports through the PACC Hotline and “Isumbong sa Pangulo,” the PACC launched an investigation.

PACC Chairman Dr. Louie F. Ceniza and Board of Trustees Pastor Allan Japor conducted a joint ocular assessment of the reported project location and discovered no traces of work.

Although DPWH personnel had carried out a survey, locals and barangay officials attested that no real building had occurred. The idea that the project is a ghost project has grown as a result of this.

In response to the accusations, DPWH Region 10 has acted quickly. Regional Director Lilibeth N. Aparecio has instructed a validation team to carry out a ground inspection. Under the direction of Engr. Virgie Nayve, the Team will investigate the project’s facts and confirm the allegations.

Dr. Ceniza, Chairman of the PACC, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to ensuring that public funds are protected and used as intended. “We will not let ghostly projects prosper at the expense of our people. Every peso must be accounted for, and those found guilty of irregularities must be held accountable,” he stated.

The PACC and DPWH stated that they worked jointly to investigate the allegations and discover the truth regarding the project. If necessary, the authorities will recommend that appropriate charges be brought against the responsible parties. The investigation’s goal is to hold people accountable for any wrongdoing and to ensure that public funds are spent properly.
