MANILA (October 12) – Top officials from the DPWH, DSWD, DepEd, and MinDA conducted an on-site inspection in Davao Oriental on Saturday following the twin earthquakes that struck the province a day earlier.

DPWH Secretary Vivencio Dizon, DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara, and MinDA Chair Leo Magno assessed damage to roads, schools, and other infrastructure.

“All national roads remain passable, but one local road was damaged by landslides,” DPWH said, adding that quick response teams are clearing affected areas and assessing public structures.

Dizon said the government is prioritizing immediate assistance and ensuring vital infrastructure remains operational, as directed by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. The team also coordinated with local officials to address urgent repair and shelter needs.
