Police, military, and volunteers team up to ensure peaceful observance

BUTUAN CITY (October 31) — More than 5,000 security personnel, including police officers, soldiers, coast guards, firefighters, and volunteers, have been deployed to secure the Undas 2025 observance in the Caraga Region, authorities said Thursday.

The Police Regional Office (PRO)-13 led a send-off ceremony for 2,035 police personnel who will be assigned across the region from November 1 to 2, supported by various law enforcement and emergency units.

“While others spend their days in cemeteries or at home, the PRO-13 stands at the forefront to ensure their commemoration is peaceful, orderly, and safe,” said PRO-13 Director Brig. Gen. Marcial Mariano Magistrado IV.

Security forces will cover 209 cemeteries, 183 churches, 94 tourist sites, five airports, 48 bus terminals, and 16 seaports, with 216 police assistance desks and 75 motorist assistance centers set up across Caraga.

Local governments have also issued guidelines banning liquor, gambling, loud music, and sharp objects in cemeteries, while urging the public to observe proper waste disposal and safety protocols.

Meanwhile, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has raised an alert status at Siargao Airport from Oct. 30 to Nov. 4 under Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Undas 2025, to ensure passenger safety and comfort.
