JOLO, Sulu (November 25) — The Bangsamoro Women Commission (BWC)-Sulu brought women with disabilities to the center of local peacebuilding through a Women Peace Conversation held on Nov. 17 in Jolo.

In partnership with the local government, the Jolo Women Council, and the Association of Tausug Persons with Disability, the event created space for women to share their experiences and push for more disability-inclusive governance.

Local resource persons highlighted national laws and rights of persons with disabilities, while community leaders called for stronger collaboration to ensure women with disabilities are represented in planning and decision-making.

Jolo Mayor Edsir Tan said their participation is vital in building a peaceful and inclusive community.

The initiative reinforces the BWC’s commitment to upholding the rights and active participation of all women, especially those with disabilities, in peace and governance.
