DAVAO DEL SUR  (November 25)— A barangay captain from Digos City in  Davao del Sur, was shot dead on Tuesday afternoon while livestreaming on Facebook, in an attack that has shocked residents and sparked calls for a full investigation.

Barangay Captain Dodong Bucol of Tres de Mayo was attending to a resident who reported a lost identification card, when a loud gunshot was heard in the middle of his livestream. The video, which has since circulated online, shows Bucol abruptly running and shouting for help as consecutive gunshots followed.

Bucol was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead shortly after.

He was the provincial chairman of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP) in Davao del Sur.

“We call on the police to thoroughly investigate this incident and ensure that justice is served,” Torreon said.

Days before the incident, Bucol on a facebook live castigated the City Mayor of Digos over what he described as anomalous.

He said the construction of EcoPark smells fishy and the price was bloated, he vowed to expose the culprit in his platform which has 253,000 followers as of November 25.

Earlier on, Bucol figured in a controversy after he was reported to have publicly humiliated a police officer during a confrontation.

Sta. Cruz Mayor Nelson “Tata” Sala defended the officer, describing him as “calm and professional,” and urged Bucol to show respect to law enforcers.

Bucol also criticized the Mayor of Digos City over the construction of Ecopark which he described as anomalous.
