COTABATO CITY (June 10) — The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) has deployed disaster response personnel to General Santos City and Sarangani Province to assist search-and-rescue operations and humanitarian efforts following Monday’s magnitude 7.8 earthquake.

BARMM Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua said Tuesday that the region dispatched members of its Rapid Damage Assessment and Needs Analysis (RDANA) team to support response operations in neighboring Soccsksargen.

“We have deployed our RDANA personnel to provide humanitarian assistance to earthquake victims,” Macacua said.

The deployment is being coordinated through the region’s Rapid Emergency Action on Disaster Incidence (READi) and the Office of Civil Defense–BARMM to strengthen damage assessment, response coordination, and information management in affected communities.

According to BARMM-READi, the team will conduct on-the-ground assessments, assist in search-and-rescue missions, gather data on infrastructure damage and urgent humanitarian needs, and improve coordination among responding agencies.

A 15-member RDANA team, accompanied by officials from the Office of Civil Defense–BARMM, traveled to General Santos City aboard Philippine Air Force helicopters on Tuesday.

The move underscores BARMM’s commitment to interregional cooperation as rescue, relief, and damage assessment operations continue in areas affected by one of the strongest earthquakes to hit Mindanao in recent years.
