DAVAO CITY, Philippines-– As the Ateneo community continues to mourn the loss of Divine Adili, preparations are now underway to accompany him on his final journey home to Nigeria, where he will be laid to rest in accordance with the wishes of his family.

In keeping with its commitment to Divine and his loved ones, the University is coordinating closely with his family and the relevant authorities to facilitate the repatriation of his remains with dignity, compassion, and respect. While documentary requirements and travel arrangements are still being finalized, efforts are steadily progressing to ensure that Divine’s return to his homeland is carried out with the utmost care.

The University has also committed to sending two representatives to accompany Divine on this final journey. One of them, Fr. Munching de Guzman, SJ, has begun the necessary preparations for travel, including securing the required vaccinations and medications for entry into Nigeria.

Though Divine’s life was tragically cut short far from home, the Ateneo community remains steadfast in walking with him and his family every step of the way. As he begins his journey back to the land of his birth, we entrust him to God’s loving embrace and continue to surround his family with our prayers and solidarity.

The univerity is asking the entire Ateneo community to keep Divine and his family in their thoughts and prayers, and to remember him with gratitude for the life he shared with us and the bonds of friendship and community that transcend borders.-Editha Z Caduaya
