DAVAO CITY (August 10) — MINDANAO households are paying more to keep their stoves running as liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices rose by ₱3.67 per kilogram in August, the sixth increase recorded in the region this year.

The latest hike brings the year-to-date net LPG price adjustment in Mindanao to ₱17.17 per kilogram, according to the Department of Energy-Mindanao Field Office.

For a typical 11-kilogram LPG cylinder, the August increase alone translates to roughly ₱40 more per tank, putting additional pressure on household budgets already stretched by food and other daily expenses.

The increase also wiped out part of the relief consumers received from the steep ₱14.81-per-kilogram rollback in July.

DOE-Mindanao data showed that since January, LPG prices in the region have gone up six times, declined once and remained unchanged for one month.

The latest adjustment means families and small food businesses that rely heavily on LPG continue to face unpredictable cooking costs, with monthly price movements making it harder to budget for basic household expenses.

For consumers, the July rollback offered only temporary relief as LPG prices resumed their upward climb in August.
