COTABATO CITY (September 10) — A village councilor from Maguindanao del Norte and two other alleged high-value drug targets were arrested after police seized about P1.4 million worth of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation in General Santos City on Tuesday afternoon.
Brig. Gen. Alan Manibog, Police Regional Office-12 director, said Wednesday that the operation yielded about 200 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P1,365,400.
Arrested were alias “Naro,” a village councilor of Barangay Mangay in Talitay, Maguindanao del Norte; and aliases “Jolt” and “Kick,” both residents of Barangay Labangal in General Santos City.
Manibog said operatives from the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit-12, Gen. Santos City Police Office and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-12 conducted the operation after identifying the three as high-value targets in the region.
Police also seized the buy-bust money and personal belongings allegedly used to conceal the suspected illegal drugs.
Authorities are preparing charges against the three for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The suspects remained in police custody pending the filing of the appropriate charges.
