DAVAO CITY, Philippines –— The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has filed a case of falsification against three former employees of the Department of Justice (DOJ) who were involved in
the anomalous visa issuance for six Chinese Nationals.
Facing charges are Cyruz Morata, Abvic Ryan Maghirang, and Shigred Erigbuagas, who admitted receiving huge amount in exchange of visas.
Morata was a “job order employee” while Maghirang and Erigbuagas served as executive assistant and administrative aide of DOJ Undersecretary Erickson Balmes.
Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II learned the three fired personnel, who all worked in Balmes’ office, began committing the criminal acts sometime in September last year.
The terminated employees forged the signature of DOJ Undersecretary Balmes, they made it appear that the communication to the Bureau of Immigration and Deportation (BID) was official.
The NBI filed charges against the three before the DOJ last Saturday, February 3, 2018.
Aguirre sacked the three after they confessed duping huge amount from the Chinese applicants.
The NBI filed charges of falsification of official documents by government employees.
Both the DOJ and the NBI failed to reveal how many have been victimized.
If proven guilty, Morata Maghirang and Erigbuagas will suffer the penlaty of six to 12 years and a fine of not more than P5,000.-Jiann A. Padillo/Newsline.ph
