PSG threatens to ban rude journalists inside Malacañang complex

February 21, 2018 by Editha Z. Caduaya Leave a Comment

DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Presidential Security Group Commander, Big. Gen.   Lope Dagoy threatened to ban rude and disrespectful  journalists,  to enter the entire Malacañang complex following the Tuesday incident involving reporters from Rappler and television giant ABS-CBN.

Dagoy was reacting to the “rude” attitude displayed by Rappler reporter Pia Ranada, ABS-CBN reporter and cameraman,  who chased a PSG personnel to get an explanation,   why Ranada was barred from entering the National Executive Building, which is located within the Malacañang complex.

Ranada, along with ABS-CBN reporters, were captured in a CCTV chasing a PSG personnel on duty asking him why Ranada was barred.

“Bawal daw ako sa loob, tama po ba yon? ” Ranada was asking PSG,  but the officer on duty kept distancing himself and refused to answer her questions.

Ranada then,  followed him inside the compound, “Kuya sige na, Kuya, kuya Mark, bakit hindi ako papasukin? sino nag instruction.”

The personnel  kept saying “wala na po mam, wala na po mam, hindi na po mam,” and shun away.

It could have been proper for Ranada,  according to Dagoy, to call Communications Secretary Martin Andanar or Undersecretary Mia Reyes,  to hear  the answer,  rather than pestering his soldier to answer her questions, saying the soldier  was just following instructions.

Dagoy described the incident  as “very unfortunate”.

He,  however, admitted there was misunderstanding in the instructions given which triggered the inciden.

In his interview  with Presidential Communications and  Operations Office, Assistant Secretary Esther Margaux Uson, Dagoy expressed disgust how the journalists treated his  soldier “Sumusunod lang sila ng instructions, huwag n’yo namang bastusin, bakit ninyo kailangang bastusin ang sundalo ko? sinubo pa ninyo ang mike ninyo, para bang dinuduro duro ninyo ang sundalo ko.”

It was good that the PSG did not react to the actuations of the reporters, Dagoy stressed  “Pasalamat kayo hindi kayo sinaktan sa pambabastos na ginawa ninyo.”

Pia Ranada, a Malacañang-accredited reporter was stopped by the Presidential Security Group (PSG) from entering the New Executive Building of Malacañang compound citing an order from “Higher Ups.”

But instead of calling the proper authorities for an  explanation, she pursued a  helpless PSG personnel for an answer.

Yesterday’s incident prompted Dagoy to issue a warning,  “Next time mangyari yan sa sundalo ko ulit yan, I will ban you from the whole Malacañang complex, kung ganun rin lang ang ipapakita ninyo sa sundalo ko.”-Editha Z. Caduaya/Newsline.ph
