Envoy to launch live video streaming ‘to engage’ more OFWs

February 21, 2018 by NewsLine Philippines Leave a Comment

DUBAI, UAE — The Philippine Consular Office in Dubai is set to launch a video streaming to engage with Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in their  area of responsibility.

Philippine Consul General  to Dubai and Northern  Emirates, Philippine Consul General Paul Raymund Cortes, recently announced he will soon set up an FB Live video streaming for the Filipinos residing in these areas.

This,  after Foreign Afffairs Secretary Alan Peter  Cayetano sent a  directive to all mission posts all over the world to engage with the OFW’s

Cortes said he has been actively engaged with the Filipino’s overseas through his Facebook page @phcongendubaipaulcortes (www.facebook.com/phcongendubaipaulcortes/).

He used the social media platform to post video advisories and public service announcements, at the same time he interacts with the OFW’s to know their concerns and in explaining the   services and assistance of his office.

“This FB Live that we hope to launch in a month, will be a platform for the consul general and the government for that matter to liaise and reach out to our constituency and engage them all the more for them to be informed of our projects and pronouncements not only of the consulate but also of the community,” said Cortes.

Cortes said his one-hour long FB Live will be streamed on a weekly basis and will be open for live interaction with the OFs in Dubai and the Northern Emirates.

“The purpose of the FB Live is for our kababayans to ask questions to me directly. We owe it to our people to explain to them the constraints of governance. We owe it our OFs and lay out to them what could be and what could not be done,” he said.

The 49-year-old envoy’s FB page has a current following of more than 27,000 with 25,551 likes.

One of his recent videos on the guidelines for Certificate of Good Conduct and NBI clearance has earned 258, 000 views.

The Philippine Consulate General (PCG) in Dubai and the Northern Emirates is considered one of the Philippines’ busiest mission posts.

It has the largest number of passport releases as well as notarial and authentication services in civil registrations compared to other mission posts.

PCG is also one of the top ten mission posts with the highest number of visa applications and is one of the top five posts with the highest number of ATN cases along with Riyadh, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Abu Dhabi.-Henri Abenis-Macahilo/Newsline.ph
