“Abu Sayyaf leader” killed in Malaysia not Nurhassan Jamiri -Westmincom

March 2, 2018 by Richard G. Falcatan Leave a Comment

DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Western Mindanao Command Chief Lieutenant General Carlito Galvez dismissed the claim of Malaysia authorities, saying Abu Sayyaf leader Nurhassan Jamiri is not among three fatalities killed in East Coast of Sabah, Malaysia,  last Tuesday, February 27, 2018.

Galvez based his statement on physical appearance of the dead men.

Galvez yesterday told reporters that the person killed in Malaysia is not Abu Sayyaf leader Nurhassan Jamiri, and the two other guys  are not members of the Abu Sayyaf.

Galvez statement is contrary to the statement of Malaysia authorities, the Malaysian intelligence unit said Jamiri was among the three persons killed last Tuesday,  inside a plantation in Tawau, East Coast of Sabah

Authorities have only one photo of Jamiri, which was taken several years ago.

Galvez automatically dismissed the Malaysia report saying “It’s not Jamiri based on the physical configuration ng katawan. The Malaysians have to do a DNA test to determine identities of the three.”

Malaysian news Star.com online, citing regional intelligence officials reported “An Abu Sayyaf sub-commander high on the Philippines’ wanted list was among three gunmen killed in a gunfight at a plantation in the east coast of Sabah.”

The Star.com Malaysia reported that Abu Sayyaf leader Nurhassan Jamiri was with two other unidentified armed onboard this carnapped vehicle when the shootout with Malaysia police took place.-Sourced photo

The Malaysia news stated “Nurhassan, from Basilan island in southern Philippines, is suspected to have been involved in the 2011 Makati IED (improvised explosive device) attack on a bus in Manila that killed five passengers. He was also the captor of Warren Rodwell, a 54-year-old Australian who was held by the Abu Sayyaf for 472 days in Basilan in 2011.

The Star.com reported, Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) commander Datuk Hazani Ghazali said the gunmen killed in a shootout at the Tawau plantation on Tuesday are suspected to be linked to a cross-border terrorist network that might be planning an attack on Sabah.-Richard G.
