AFP education chief visits Western Mindanao Command

ZAMBOANGA – Brig. Gen. Krishnamurti Mortela, the Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Education, Training, and Doctrine at the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), paid a visit to the Western Mindanao Command at Camp Navarro in Calarian, Zamboanga City, on November 7, 2023.

Upon his arrival, Brig. Gen. Mortela received a cordial welcome from Lt. Gen. William Gonzales, the Commander of Western Mindanao Command, Deputy Commander Brig. Gen. Vincent Incognito, and the Unified Command Staff, led by Col. Emmanuel Cabasan, at the Laong Laan Hall of the command.

During their discussions, Lt. Gen. Gonzales and Brig. Gen. Mortela exchanged expressions of gratitude and commendation. The focus of their conversation was on programs and training initiatives designed to continually enhance the knowledge and skills of military personnel and civilian human resources within the command.

Lt. Gen. Gonzales underscored the importance of adapting to changes and the need for continuous improvement through training. He stated, “We need to adapt to changes; hence, we have to improve ourselves through training so that we can consistently perform our mandated tasks and accomplish our mission.”

The Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Education, Training, and Doctrine (OJ8) at the AFP is responsible for planning joint exercises and crafting doctrines to ensure that troops are capacitated and competent in adapting to security challenges. These initiatives also aim to promote a culture of excellence and professionalism within the armed forces.
