DAVAO CITY – The ambulance driver and an aide of Parang town in Maguindanao were arrested after police authorities in Talitay town discovered their possession of prohibited drugs on Sunday afternoon.

In a report published by NDBC, Major Michael Tinio, chief of the Datu Anggal Midtimbang municipal police, identified the two as Mohaimen Ali, 32, the ambulance driver, and, helper Hassan Datumanong, 34, both residents of Barangay Poblacion, Parang, Maguindanao.

Tinio in an interview on Monday told reporters, the authorities received information that two men aboard the White Nissan Urban municipal ambulance with licensed plate SGX-763 were carrying illegal drugs from Talitay town to  Barangay Adaon of Datu Anggal Midtimbang town.

The authorities immediately set up a checkpoint to verify the report they received, at 1:00 pm on Sunday. The ambulance was flagged down at the checkpoint but one of the two passengers of the ambulance tossed something out of the window, prompting the police to check the item, and it turned out to be two (2) grams of illegal drugs.

Tinio said, “When verified, police checkpoint personnel saw in plain view two sachets of suspected shabu drugs on the ground”.

The suspects are now detained at the municipal police station.

Tinio said charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) are now being prepared against the suspects. -with PNA report
