DAVAO CITY — The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) awaits the result of the Senate investigation on the alleged ‘Ninja Cops’ before proceeding the investigation against erring policemen which might include PNP Chief Oscar Albayalde.

President Rodrigo Duterte earlier ordered Interior Secretary Eduardo Año to conduct an investigation on the involvement of 13 policemen and Abayalde on alleged recycling of drugs in an operation wayback 2013.

Año said he already formed an investigating team from DILG and National Police Commission (Napolcom) with four lawyers.

“This will be a thorough and fair review and investigation, based on facts, based on reports, based on procedures… And based on the past investigations conducted, ” he said.

Año said the investigating panel will be also inviting the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (DILG) who made the reports from their previous operations and other resource people who could give additional information that could be used in the case.

He said, the panel might release the result before the mandatory retirement of Albayalde this year. -Armand B. Fenequito Jr.
