DAVAO CITY — Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has ordered the condemnation of Palmetto Place situated in Barangay Maa, here.

Duterte-Carpio in a statement stated ” On November 1, 2019, the Palmetto Place Davao in Barangay Maa, was also condemned after the earthquake left cracks on walls, beams, channels, and posts of the Buildings 2 and 3 of the said complex. Residents of the condominiums have voluntarily vacated their units after receipt of Notice To Vacate from the Davao City Office of the Building Official.”

Duterte-Carpio ordered an inspection on all buildings in the city following the collapse of Himeki building of the Ecoland Residences 4000 complex, during the October 31 earthquake.

The Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office report stated the following findings:

  • 9 individuals were injured
  • 0 fatalities
  • 0 missing victims

The Davao City Legal Office has been ordered to probe on the actions of the City Engineer’s Office, Office of the City Building Official, and the Building Administrator’s Office of Ecoland Residences 4000 in relation to the collapse of the Himeji building.

There is an ongoing joint ground assessment by CDRRMO, MGB XI, DENR, and local officials of landslide prone barangays in Davao City. Initial results of the assessment flagged Juario Village in Maa as a “danger zone” and the residents of the village have been advised to evacuate ASAP because of threats of imminent landslide.

At least one person was arrested for disobedience to a lawful order in relation to the operations at Ecoland 4000.

Duterte-Carpio reminded the public “to keep calm, to not panic, and to always listen and follow authorities at all times.”-Che Palicte
