Arrested ex-drug convict yields P408K worth of shabu

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Police authorities arrested Jovel Veroy on Tuesday April 11, in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Bulua here,

Veroy a newly released convict for drug peddling.

City director PCol. Aaron Mandia said that Veroy was imprisoned in the city jail in Barangay Lumbia for violation of R.A. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and freed in March 10 this year after spending years behind bars.

“Recovered from Veroy’s possession were five pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu weighing more or less 60 grams with an estimated standard drug price of P408 thousand pesos,” Mandia added.

Mandia added that Veroy is now detained at Maharlika detention cell for proper disposition. A case for violation of RA 9165 is being prepared against the suspect.

PBGen. Lawrence Coop, PRO 10 regional director, lauded the operating unit for the arrest of Veroy.

“Even if you are released from prison, we will still monitor your activities along with other people. If you do an illegal activity, we will not hesitate to arrest you and take legal action. We have sworn to protect the community, and that includes protecting them from the harmful effects of illegal drugs,” Coop said.
