DAVAO ORIENTAL – The lively and festive atmosphere filled the town of Baganga, Davao Oriental as it celebrated its first Sundaya Festival on Friday and Saturday.

The venue was packed with party-goers who eagerly joined in the festivities, creating a vibrant and joyful ambiance throughout the area. It was evident that everyone was in high spirits and united in their celebration.

According to Juliet Monday, the Tourism Officer of Baganga, they expected a significant turnout for the event, especially since it was the first time such a summer festival was being held in the town. The Sundaya Festival was organized by the Tourism Establishment Association of Baganga Resort Accommodation and Catering Services in partnership with the local government unit (LGU) of Baganga.

“The Sundaya Festival is a summer festival of Baganga, and this is really the first time we’re having a summer festival like this. It is organized by the Tourism Establishment Association of Baganga Resort Accommodation and Catering Services in partnership with the LGU of Baganga,” explained Monday.

Furthermore, Monday mentioned that the proceeds from the two-day Sundaya Festival would be used to assist the indigent community in Baganga. This initiative reflects the commitment of the tourism establishments to give back to the local community. The festival attracted not only residents of Baganga but also numerous tourists from the Davao Region.

Strict security measures were implemented throughout the event, and certain items were prohibited from entering the festival grounds.

“We actually released a list of do’s and don’ts, especially at our screening area upon entry. For example, sharp weapons are strictly prohibited. Since this is a party activity, we also strictly prohibit illegal drugs and party drugs,” emphasized Monday.

Mayor Ronald “Pepot” Lara highlighted that this was not the first time Baganga had organized such an event. He expressed his optimism for future festivities and revealed plans to bring more enjoyable activities to the people of Baganga, such as the upcoming “October Peps” celebration.

“It’s like a summer frolic in Mati City. This is just the beginning, and I think by October, we will have our own Baganga celebration,” Mayor Lara shared.
