The Ministry of Interior and Local Government of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Mindanao (MILG-BARMM) is constructing 10 two-storey barangay halls in Patikul town, Sulu province worth P5 million each.

The ceremony for the groundbreaking and the signing of the memorandum of agreement for the said project was held in Patikul on March 19 and was led by MILG Minister Naguib Sinarimbo, Patikul Municipal Mayor Kabir Hayudini, and 11th Infantry “Alakdan” Division Commander Maj. Gen. Ignatius Patrimonio.

“This is in support of the Balik Barangay Program aimed at returning all IDPs (internally displaced persons) in their villages in Patikul after their long displacement because of the fight against the Abu Sayyaf,” Sinarimbo said.

Sinarimbo recalled that in 2019, he visited the area to distribute relief assistance to the many IDPs encamped there.

“I am happy to return and provide through the Bangsamoro Government new government centers to the barangays whose constituents are now returning. These barangay halls will be at the forefront of providing services to our people,” Sinarimbo said.

Sinarimbo stressed that “a conducive office for the barangay officials will help them be more motivated in serving the Bangsamoro constituents.”

MILG Sulu Provincial Director Emini Kadiri and other municipal and barangay officials also attended the groundbreaking ceremony.
