Basilan ABC president killed, two other village chiefs wounded

DAVAO CITY — The Association of Barangay Captain president of Isabela City, Basilan province was killed on Sunday in Zamboanga City while two other barangay chairmen were wounded when two still unidentified suspects attacked them at the parking area of Puerta Del Ciudad Hotel along Vitaliano Agan Street in Zamboanga City Sunday night.

Colonel Alexander Lorenzo, director of Zamboanga City police, identified the victim as Franklyn Galos Tan, ABC President and chairman of Barangay Seaside in Isabela City.

Tan succumbed to bullet wounds due to the attack. It can be recalled that Tan survived an attack on October 2024.

While Jaider Jumdan, chairman of Barangay Kaumpurnah Zone 2 in Isabela City and Daryl Jalani, barangay chairman of Kaumpurnah Zone 3 in the same city were also injured.

Police investigation showed that the victims were in the parking lot, when the two suspects suddenly emerged and shot the victims.

The assailants immediately fled with a getaway Suzuki Raider 150 motorcycle towards the direction of Barangay Sta. Maria, in Zamboanga City.
