BIR files cases against 4 delinquent firms over P52-M tax

In a statement, the BIR said the four firms — Abatech Corporation, Amberbase Solutions Philippines, Corporation, Ira General and Security Services, Inc., and Worklinks General Services, Co. — willfully failed to pay taxes under the National Revenue Code of 1997.

The respondents include their respective presidents and corporate officers including Abatech Rogelio Abalos, Amberbase president Jaime Aquino, Ira General president Tranquilino Aglugub, and Worklinks president Victoria Adrias.

Ira General had the largest tax deficiency amounting to PHP28.66 million for the taxable year 2010 followed by Amberbase which is being sued for the PHP16.48 million tax deficiency for the taxable year 2008 while Worklinks and Abatech face complaints for their failure to settle tax deficiencies amounting to PHP4.3 million in 2010 and PHP2.64 million in 2008, respectively.

The BIR said the four companies were repeatedly served notices for the payment of their respective tax deficiencies.

However, the BIR lamented that the four delinquent firms either failed to pay or refute the deficiencies. –PNA
