Bong Go: No Interest on Senate Slate

DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Special Assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go reiterated that he is not interested to join the Senate and will not run in 2019.

Go, in a statement said, “Ang sagot ko po sa pa-anyaya ni Speaker Alvarez: Inuulit ko po, hindi po ako interesado tumakbo sa senado sa 2019. Magsisilbi po ako kay Mayor Duterte hanggang kamatayan, kung hindi man ako mauna.”

But Go said that he might change his mind “Pero kung tutuparin ni Speaker Alvarez ang pangako nyang kunin akong ninong sa kasal nya, baka mag bago po isip ko,” he said.

House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez said on Thursday that he would persuade the President’s trusted aide to join the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) senatorial slate.

Alvarez said that with Go’s soaring popularity from being dubbed by Facebook as the “Selfie King”, a national “Photobomber” and being the man next to the President makes him a good material for 2019.

Go, who rarely bites a bait, said he might change his mind if Alvarez will stand with his promise to make him a principal sponsor in his wedding.

Alvarez is still legally married to his estranged wife Emelita but has publicly said he is willing to marry his girlfriend Jennifer Maliwanag Vicencio citing his Manobo roots which allows multiple marriages.-Editha Z. Caduaya/Newsline.ph
