MANILA (July 14)  — Another fuel price hike is set to hit motorists and commuters this week, with diesel and kerosene prices expected to jump by more than ₱2 per liter as tensions in the Middle East continue to drive global oil prices higher.

The Department of Energy (DOE) said the projected pump price adjustments from July 14 to 20 are:

  • Diesel: +₱2.62 to +₱4.62 per liter
  • Kerosene: +₱2.22 to +₱4.22 per liter
  • Gasoline: may either increase or decrease by up to ₱1 per liter

The looming increase threatens to push up transport costs and could trigger higher prices of goods as fuel expenses ripple through the supply chain.

DOE to shift to exact fuel price announcements

Energy Secretary Sharon Garin said this will be the final week that the DOE releases fuel price forecasts in ranges.

Starting next week, the agency will announce specific pump price adjustments, saying calmer market conditions now allow for more precise forecasts while improving price monitoring under the country’s state of energy emergency.

“It’s better for the protection of consumers and for government monitoring,” Garin said.

More hikes could follow

The DOE also warned that fuel prices may continue to climb if geopolitical tensions persist, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz, a critical shipping route for global oil supplies.

As international crude prices continue to rise, local pump prices are expected to follow, adding another financial burden on Filipino families, transport operators, and businesses already grappling with rising living costs.
