DAVAO CITY — Various municipalities of Caraga region have started the preemptive evacuation among residents from low lying areas, flood-prone areas and coastal areas.
As of 4:00 in the afternoon today, the municipal government of Hinatuan started to fetch residents from the village of Tabok, Brgy. Aquino, a coastal area.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration in a bulletin issued at 4:00 in the afternoon today stated :
The center of Typhoon “ODETTE” was estimated based on all available data at 485 km East of
Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur (9.1°N, 130.7°E) Intensity with Maximum sustained winds of 130 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 160 km/h, and central
pressure of 970 hPa.
In a Facebook post, the municipal government fetched the residents to the evacuation center called Bay Dangpanan (Municipal Evacuation Center).
On Monday, the provincial government conducted a massive clean-up drive along rives and waterways and hauled trucks of drit woods which could contribute to water congestion.
The Provincial Disaster Risk and reduction Management Office has been monitoring the weather condition and established an alert system.
All barangays have been placed on high alert in anticipation of STS Odette and advised to activate needed protocols through series of directives issued by Mayor Shem G. Garay.
