Caraga residents warned against fake LTO page offering online assistance

DAVAO CITY —- Residents of Caraga region are warned against a Facebook page offering online assistance to their probable victims.

‘Land Transportation Online Assistant’ Facebook page is not in any way connected to their office.

LTO-13 regional director Nordy Plaza in an interview with Philippine News Agency stated “I am warning the public on the Facebook page “Facebook Page named Land Transportation Online Assistant. This is a scam and is being run by unscrupulous people, which our office does not condone.”

In the same report, Plaza claimed there is an emerging scam that entices people to register and obtain drivers’ licenses through online transactions.

The district offices in said region has been requested to help disseminate the information to warn residents of this modus.

The online account is reportedly offering drivers license applicant online assistance in securing driver’s license.

Many driver’s license application in Davao region travel as far as Caraga secure license at P8,000 through a fixer because they cannot pass the LTO exam for said purpose.

Romel, a resident of Davao City secured his driver’s license in Caraga through a fixer, they travelled for two days and came back to the city with a license.

The new scam, as claimed by Plaza, however, does not specifically provide information how the scammers operate and how he learned about their operations.

All driver’s application needs personal appearance because, every applicant is required to undergo a written exam after the two-hour road rules seminar at every LTO regional office.

However, Plaza is asking the public to immediately report to his office about the activities of the fraudulent online transaction.-Newsline with PNA report
