Chavit Singson visits Misamis Occidental, advocates for progress and change

December 25, 2024 by Branded content

MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL—Senate candidate Luis “Manong Chavit” Singson visited Misamis Occidental on Wednesday, December 18, as part of his nationwide campaign to engage with communities and promote his vision for development and progress.

Singson participated in the Pamaskong Handog 2024 events in Ozamiz and Tangub City, where he was warmly welcomed by Governor Henry S. Oaminal, Vice Governor Rowena Gutierrez, local board members, and city mayors.

Governor Oaminal expressed gratitude for Singson’s visit, praising his initiatives aimed at uplifting local communities. He commended Singson’s leadership and his vision for transformative change at the national level.

During his visit, Singson discussed the key initiatives that align with his commitment to sustainable development, poverty reduction, and economic empowerment:

Singson highlighted his commitment to the Jeepney Modernization Initiative, which introduces 22-seater electric public utility vehicles (E-PUVs). These eco-friendly and safer vehicles aim to improve commuter experiences, reduce pollution, and address urban traffic congestion.

The VBank Initiative promotes financial inclusion by providing digital financial services to small businesses, farmers, and entrepreneurs. Singson envisions this platform as a tool to enhance access to financing, lower remittance fees for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), and foster economic resilience.

Singson introduced the Chavit 500 Program, offering ₱500 monthly financial assistance to low-income Filipinos. The initiative seeks to combat poverty, ensure children stay in school, prevent child labor, and strengthen household resilience during disasters.

Singson emphasized his desire to establish economic zones in various parts of the Philippines. This initiative aims to attract investments, create jobs, and boost regional economies, particularly in underserved provinces like Misamis Occidental.

As a former president of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines, Singson has been a strong advocate for empowering local government units (LGUs). He supports giving LGUs greater control over projects and partnerships that can drive progress in their communities.

Adding excitement to the Pamaskong Handog events, 20 beneficiaries received VBank cash transfers worth ₱10,000 each, demonstrating Singson’s commitment to delivering tangible support to local communities.

Singson also engaged with barangay leaders, local officials, and residents to discuss his campaign vision under his slogan, “May Isang Salita” (A Man of His Word).

In a press conference, Singson connected with media representatives and leaders of the transport sector. He shared his plans to modernize public vehicles, enhance economic activities in the transport industry, and address the challenges faced by transport workers.

Known for his impactful programs, Singson has long championed initiatives that prioritize grassroots development. As a former governor of Ilocos Sur, he spearheaded projects such as Sagana at Ligtas na Tubig para sa Lahat (Safe and Sufficient Water for All) and efforts to empower farmers and fisherfolk.

With a campaign focused on modernization, financial empowerment, and poverty alleviation, Singson continues to build on his legacy of service, aiming to bring meaningful progress not only to Misamis Occidental but to the nation as a whole.
