CIDG presents February performance report, details law enforcement wins

DAVAO CITY – The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) has released its February performance report, detailing its intensified efforts against criminal activities and law violations nationwide.

The agency emphasized its commitment to crime prevention and law enforcement, particularly in preparation for the 2025 National and Local Elections (NLE).

To enhance the police force’s crime prevention and solution efficiency, the CIDG ramped up its operations against all forms of criminal activity, including manhunt operations targeting fugitives, illegal firearms trade, fraudulent activities, and illicit gambling operations.

According to CIDG Director PMGEN NICOLAS D. TORRE III, the agency, with only 1,943 uniformed personnel nationwide, conducted 1,047 law enforcement operations in February. These efforts led to:

The arrest of 1,886 suspects, including wanted persons and fugitives; The confiscation of 128 firearms, 9,015 explosives, assorted magazines, and 1,708 rounds of assorted ammunition

Torres said they filed 167 criminal complaints with the National Prosecution Service.

The month-long operations focused on capturing wanted persons and fugitives, Seizing loose firearms and explosives; Dismantling criminal gangs, Arresting fake medical professionals and illegal practitioners, Suppressing illegal gambling and environmental crimes, Countering counterfeiting, illicit LPG refilling, smuggled cigarettes, and infringed products, Cracking down on adulterated cooking oil and illegal medical practices and, Targeting illegal POGO (Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators) and IGLs (Internet Gaming License) operations.

Of the 1,886 arrested suspects, 459 were foreigners, with 429 of them linked to illegal POGO/IGL operations.

In collaboration with National Government Agencies and Local Government Units (LGUs), the CIDG successfully shut down four illegal POGO/IGL buildings this month, further tightening its grip on illicit online gaming operations.

Torre lauded his personnel for their relentless efforts in combating criminality and stressed their commitment to ensuring public safety.

“I commend my top-tier CIDG operatives, detectives, and sleuths for their aggressive stance against criminality nationwide. I assure the Filipino people that the CIDG remains steadfast, unwavering, and ever-vigilant in enforcing the law, preventing and solving crimes, and bringing offenders to justice. We are committed to ensuring that all victims receive the justice they deserve,” Torre stated.

With the 2025 National and Local Elections approaching, the CIDG vows to intensify its operations to ensure a safe and peaceful election period and strengthen its fight against all forms of lawlessness and criminal activities.
