DAVAO CITY (March 25) — At least 1.6 million Filipinos are hooked on shabu, this was the claim of President Rodrigo Duterte as he cited the data presented to him by former PNP chief, now administration candidate Ronald ‘Bato’ dela Rosa.
Duterte said the figure was a conservative number as the statistic only covered during dela Rosa’s tenure as Philippine National Police chief, and was limited to Metro Manila alone.
“Ingon ni Bato ( Ronald dela Rosa), one point six ang validated nakit-an gyud ninyo sa TV nag-surrender. Puro payat, walay kaon. Sabagay maayo man pud kay nag rice crisis ta niadto eh. Di man mangaon ning mga animal ni. O di na mangaon. Di matulog, di mukaon. Guba na ang utok eh.”
During the PDP-Laban rally in Cagayan de Oro City Sunday night, Duterte said illegal drug users in the country spend billion on shabu every year.
If a user consumes one sachet of shabu daily at P200 per sachet, this would mean a user spends P6,000 a month that would mean P9.6 billions are spent monthly for shabu only or P115.2 billion a year.
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) director Aaron Aquino earlier said illegal drugs ‘shabu’ are now sold at P4,000 per sachet in the market.
Duterte said the money spend for illegal drugs should have been spent for the education of their children “Nga dapat unta kaning kwartaha muadto sa tuition, muadto sa pagkaon, wala na. Og ang head of the family ma-sirko sa droga, the entire family becomes dysfunctional, mu-collapse na na. Kay ang head of the family di na man dad-on ang… Lain na man ang iya. Iya na man ang shabu.’
To illegal drugs users, Duterte stressed “Well, you know do not ever, ever think na ikaw lang ang marunong about evil in this planet. You do not think — ever think that you have a monopoly of evil diri. Daghan ta. Kaya mo? Kaya ko rin. So maybe, unlike the other candidates nga amigo sa mga Human Rights, ako after this earthly existence, or even after my mayorship, I’m ready to go to prison. I’m ready to go to hell.”
He continued “What would I care a son of a b***? Maligo ka’g dugo nimo diha. Then you try to destroy the others — the other young people in this planet. P*** pag naa pa ko ato, nah patay ka gyud diretso. Og dili na patyon, pulis may akong patyon. T*** i** kang pulisa ka. Og apil ka, ayaw pagtuong palutson taka.”
As the President, Duterte said he is not happy with this reality, but he vowed to do his best to protect the next generation from being hooked into illegal drugs.
Dela Rosa for his part, during the rally said if he will work to review the country’s law on illegal drugs and its penalties along with the viable method to prevent the flooding of illegal drugs.
“Dapat mas taas ang penalty ug puede ibalik jud ang death penalty,” dela Rosa added.-Editha Caduaya/NewsLIne.ph
