DAVAO CITY — A policeman from Magpet Municipal Police Station, in Cotabato province was arrested after he beat and pointed firearm at his girlfriend on midnight of April 11, in Kanapia Subdivision, Poblacion, Kidapawan City.

Kidapawan City Police Station identified the suspect as Corporal Louie Jay Lumancas.

In a viral video, Lumancas beat and pointed his service firearm at his girlfriend at a birthday party.

Cotabato Police Provincial Director PCOL. Harold Ramos went to the Kidapawan  City police detention cell and personally removed Lumancas badge.

Ramos added that what Lumancas committed was a big offense because he should have been the one to protect her, instead he was the one who beat her.

“The police badge symbolizes its legal authority or loyalty to the people and the law of the country as a member of law enforcement,” Ramos said.

“Cotabato Police Provincial Office is taking urgent and stern actions to address the mauling incident involving Lumancas that transpired in Kanapia Subdivision, Barangay Poblacion, Kidapawan City, today, April 11, 2023, around 12:30 a.m.,” Ramos said.

“Kidapawan City Police Station arrested Lumancas and is now preparing the formal complaint against him in Inquest Proceeding,” Ramos added.

Lumancas is facing charges of Violence against Women and their Children (VAWC) or Republic Act 9262, a special law for the protection of women and children.

“CPPO will never condone nor tolerate this kind of action committed by our fellow PNP member and rest assured that Cotabato Provincial Police Office will deliver justice to the victim,” Ramos said.
