DAVAO CITY — The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has issued a reminder to candidates in the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections to strictly adhere to campaign regulations, as the official campaign period commences.

The election period began on October 19 and will run until October 28, as per the COMELEC schedule. Campaigning will be strictly prohibited on October 29 and on election day, which falls on October 30.

To facilitate the campaigning process, COMELEC XI has designated common poster areas where candidates can display their posters and tarpaulins. Common poster areas include vacant lots in front of the barangay hall, plazas, health centers, and in front of public markets.

Candidates are urged to adhere to these common poster areas and are strictly forbidden from displaying campaign materials in unauthorized locations unless they have explicit permission from the landowner.

The COMELEC central office has previously warned against the distribution of illegal campaign materials.

Additionally, any form of vote-buying, whether through cash, significant expenditures, or other indirect means, is strictly prohibited.

This campaign period is subject to a ten-day timeframe, emphasizing the COMELEC’s commitment to a fair and orderly election process. Candidates are advised to adhere to the regulations in place to ensure a smooth and lawful campaign period.
