DAVAO CITY (August 15) – The Davao City Government, through the City Youth Development Office (DCYDO), held the Linggo ng Kabataan Culmination Activity on August 12, 2025, at the SMX Convention Center, SM Lanang. The event formed part of Youth IGNITE: DabawenYouth KasaDayawan 2025, marking International Youth Day and the Kadayawan Festival.

Around 800 Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) leaders and members joined the celebration themed “Local Youth Actions for the Sustainable Development Goals and Beyond,” which showcased the talents, leadership, and community involvement of young Dabawenyos.

SK Federation President and City Councilor Kristine Abdul Mercado lauded the youth’s active participation, urging them to act with purpose while staying grounded in their values.

Highlights included awarding winners in contests such as poster making, essay writing, extemporaneous speech, photojournalism, short film making, and the PowerDance competition. Outstanding youth leaders, projects, and SK councils were also recognized.

The event introduced Davao City Junior Officials, who will serve from August 4, 2025, to August 6, 2026, mirroring city officials and crafting youth-centered policies.

DCYDO Division Chief Emmanuel N. Crismas noted this year’s program, mandated under RA 10742, was bigger than last year’s and held peacefully with support from city offices. He also announced upcoming Peace Camps and the ongoing creation of a youth profile database, which has already recorded over 32,000 young residents to help design targeted programs.
