DAVAO CITY — The first day of the nine-day Misa de Gallo or dawn mass here was peaceful.

Roman Catholic devotees flocked to the church for the first face to face mass after two-year lull due to the pandemic.

Police personnel from Davao City Police office and personnel of Task Force Davao were all over to ensure that the mass will be orderly and peaceful.

It was full-packed inside and dozens heard the mass along San Pedro street.

Davao Archbishop Romulo Valles led the mass along with other clergies.

In his Homily, Valles highlighted the importance of remembering the true essence of Christmas-Love- as he said because of God’s love to humanity He sacrificed and offered His life for the world to have peace.

Love and peace, according to Valles are the true essence of Christmas.

Churchgoers flooded the nearby food stalls after the mass, vendors had their opportunity to sell their goodies and bring something for their families.-Althea Beatrice C. Felizarta
