Davao City gives P1-M aid for Itbayat quake victims

DAVAO CITY (August 6) — The Davao City Council in a regular session today unanimously approved a resolution to provide P1-million financial assistance to the earthquake victims of Itbayat town in batanes.

The fund will be taken against the city’s quick response fund.

The town was hit with 5.9 magnitude earthquake on July 27, which killed nine persons while some 2 72 families or 261 persons from said town have temporarily stayed at the town’s covered court/municipal plaza in Barangay San Rafael.

Alfredo Baloran, Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) head, said they will personally turn-over the cash assistance to help the victims rebuild their houses.-NewsLine.ph
