DAVAO CITY — The provincial engineering office is preparing the space in barangay Elizalde, Maco, Davao de Oro located near Elizalde quasi parish to build a temporary tent city or shelter tents from the Philippine Red Cross for the families affected by the Masara landslide.

The provided space is the result of the cooperation of the church of the diocese of Tagum and the Davao de Oro provincial government.

On Saturday, Gonzaga personally inspected the proposed area along with congressman Ruwel Gonzaga and officers of the barangay.

Officials found the place to be a safe shelter.

The plastering of the area has been expedited for the evacuees to move in asap because often the affected families are maintaining the schools that have been temporarily made evacuation centers.

The provincial government wants the evacuees to be placed in the tent city, especially those who are in school so that they do not disturb the children’s schooling.

Thousands of families from various barangays in Maco are currently staying in various evacuation centers after the landslide that happened on February 6.
